Mother, wife, sister, friend, writer / blogger / creative organizer, budding photographer... These are just a few of the many hats I juggle each day. I believe creativity is oxygen for the soul. I created Live In Color blog to celebrate the beauty in every moment, from faith to inspiration and motherhood. And it is soon becoming Pray with Our Feet blog which will focus on the intersection of faith and activism. Lianne La Havas performs at the North Sea Jazz Festival

The language of music is universal. Don’t you love that?

I spent lots of time listening to artists on NPR Tiny Desk series. One of my new favorites is Lianne La Havas! I get chills listening to her.

I also discovered Concha Buika from this amazing NPR Music Tiny Desk concert. She sings with such intensity and passion! Christine Salem is another new find; listen to her spirited performance here.

Esperanza Spalding is back with a unique sound and style. Loving her flow. Check out this performance at the White House of the jazz classic, “Sunny Side of the Street.”

What if we could purchase sustainable products? It’s a reality over at Buy Me Once where they are saying no to our throw-away culture.

Successful Mompreneur Lakesha Cole on creating a thriving online business in spite of challenges.

You can find lots of awesome content on The Trailblazers Podcast which highlights prominent entrepreneurs of color.

Lots of juggling projects this week, so not as much time to read and listen to inspiring content, but I always manage to squeeze something into the mix.  I am so moved by courageous women who are leading organizations to uplift their communities, journalists who seek unapologetic truth, and writers unafraid to reveal their vulnerability.

Here is my weekly list:

Author Elizabeth Gilbert on pushing past fear, and cultivating creativity constantly – no matter what.

Women-led movements are redefining power all over the world.

Lovely photo essay from blogger / photographer Tammy Strobel.

On the importance of being kind to ourselves.

One writer’s journey to self love, and saying no to doing more and more (which seems to be practically imbedded in our DNA as women).

The beauty of John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme”.

An engaging conversation from Unraveling the Mind blog on Beyoncé, capitalism and activism.

Reflection is so critical for our growth. I spent quite a bit of time listening and reading content which nourished my soul.

Here’s this week’s list:

Spoken word artist Prince EA on living in the now.

16 Courageous Women (from around the world) Stand Up to Violence in their communities.

Gregory Porter’s new soulful song, “Holding On” from forthcoming album, Take Me to the Alley.

Overcome fear with faith. This empowering post from (in) courage me blog is transformative.

Priscilla Sheer’s moving book, Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan for Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer is my latest good read.

How did I only now just discover the fabulous Christian artist Beckah Shae? Her upbeat song “Be Alright” will have you singing every problem away and proclaiming victory through faith!

Mary J. Blige’s encouraging song “Doubt” is the anthem for every woman someone dismissed. These lines give me life: “They said I’d never be a leader, never be a Queen… Now you are looking at a leader, now you are looking at a Queen.

Enjoy your weekend, lovelies!
