Mother, wife, sister, friend, writer / blogger / creative organizer, budding photographer... These are just a few of the many hats I juggle each day. I believe creativity is oxygen for the soul. I created Live In Color blog to celebrate the beauty in every moment, from faith to inspiration and motherhood. And it is soon becoming Pray with Our Feet blog which will focus on the intersection of faith and activism. Lianne La Havas performs at the North Sea Jazz Festival

The language of music is universal. Don’t you love that?

I spent lots of time listening to artists on NPR Tiny Desk series. One of my new favorites is Lianne La Havas! I get chills listening to her.

I also discovered Concha Buika from this amazing NPR Music Tiny Desk concert. She sings with such intensity and passion! Christine Salem is another new find; listen to her spirited performance here.

Esperanza Spalding is back with a unique sound and style. Loving her flow. Check out this performance at the White House of the jazz classic, “Sunny Side of the Street.”

What if we could purchase sustainable products? It’s a reality over at Buy Me Once where they are saying no to our throw-away culture.

Ok, y’all, it’s so cold I barely want to leave my house! What I am loving these days is curling up on the couch (when Nai naps), and listening to inspirational content. Shan and I talked last week about self love and how important it is to feed yourself with encouraging words!

Here’s what I am loving this week:

Jump and release anxiety! Awesome reminder from Shan of The Free Gurl Club about walking in your power and surrendering all to faith. I had the honor of sponsoring this show, too!

This week she urges us to enjoy life and embrace our unique truth.

It’s Already Done by Big Daddy Weave is such a lovely ode to trusting God fully, allowing Him to guide our steps.

Cornel West dropping philosophical gems such as why the courageous among us examine ourselves.

Lucille Clifton’s poetic anthem for strong folks everywhere, “Won’t You Celebrate With Me.”

Alice Walker’s striking poem “Broken Things” on honoring beauty.

The weather is getting cooler and holidays are near! This is an awesome time to reflect, seeking inspiration and wisdom. I am listening to a lot these days (as usual), and wanted to share some of the latest audio gems resonating with my soul.

This Is No Time to Loose Your Head, Bishop T.D. Jakes, a timely reminder to rely not on our own wisdom, but God’s as an anchor, particularly during tough times.

I recently did some promotional work for a local festival, Art-AGstravaganza. Hop’t, a rock / blues band, performed live. Their dynamic sound is electrifying!

With our support, they can release their first EP.  Click here to help.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s brilliant talk on why we should all unapologetically identify as feminists. Her short book, adapted from this lecture, is an elegant and heartfelt call to honor the depth of feminity.
