I have a confession. Last Saturday night I longed to wear my bright bubble gum pink flip flops with the girly white bows peaking up at me instead of those edgy black stilettos.
For the first time in years, the thought of prancing in heels didn’t excite me. Ok. My marathon day of trekking from one event to the next with our baby daughter Naima in tow didn’t help, but, as much as I hate to admit this, I am hopelessly in love with flip flops. Yes. I typed that.
This stiletto lover is also on team flip flops; not that I have abandoned my heels, but there are no shortage of stylish options with flip flops. As a teenager who considered herself trendy, flip flops often seemed too casual, too laid back to fit me.
Well, fast forward several years later, and flip flops are now fond reminders of warm weather, a fresh pedicure, lazy Sunday afternoons spent reading, and those comfort shoes I love digging out of the car after I’ve spent three hours dancing in towering heels (yes, I still manage to do that).
So, I am officially admitting to myself that I cheat on heels with flip flops, and you know what, it feels damn good.
