Mother, wife, sister, friend, writer / blogger / creative organizer, budding photographer... These are just a few of the many hats I juggle each day. I believe creativity is oxygen for the soul. I created Live In Color blog to celebrate the beauty in every moment, from faith to inspiration and motherhood. And it is soon becoming Pray with Our Feet blog which will focus on the intersection of faith and activism. Ok, y’all, it’s so cold I barely want to leave my house! What I am loving these days is curling up on the couch (when Nai naps), and listening to inspirational content. Shan and I talked last week about self love and how important it is to feed yourself with encouraging words!

Here’s what I am loving this week:

Jump and release anxiety! Awesome reminder from Shan of The Free Gurl Club about walking in your power and surrendering all to faith. I had the honor of sponsoring this show, too!

This week she urges us to enjoy life and embrace our unique truth.

Shan of The Free Gurl Club

It’s Already Done by Big Daddy Weave is such a lovely ode to trusting God fully, allowing Him to guide our steps.

Cornel West dropping philosophical gems such as why the courageous among us examine ourselves.

Lucille Clifton’s poetic anthem for strong folks everywhere, “Won’t You Celebrate With Me.”

Alice Walker’s striking poem “Broken Things” on honoring beauty.

I spend lots of time listening to inspirational content. Do you know what I love even more? Sharing it with you, lovelies!

Here’s my weekly round up:

Travis Greene’s uplifting song, “Intentional”  about how God brings forth beauty, working all things out for our good, will have you pressing repeat. My baby girl Nai and I rock out to it everyday!

As Mamas, taking care of ourselves often comes last, but it doesn’t have to be that way. This awesome podcast from MOMentity breaks it all down.

My bestie Shan, creator of The Free Gurl Club, has an awesome  YouTube show. This week she unpacked self acceptance and love. It’s all about celebrating you, and realizing you are enough!

Abiola is the truth! The writer / speaker / go-to-lady for empowering yourself has an awesome talk on getting clear about your brand and what you have to offer.

It’s been a while since I blogged about who inspires me on Instagram. Nearly everday, it seems, I connect with people whose creativity, curiosity and vision challenge me to think about the world in new ways.

Here are a few of my favs. Every month I’ll highlight five.

If you’re on IG, pop on over to their pages. You’ll leave full of inspiration, and what better way to kick off 2016?

@trentsdinnerandashow -Beautiful photographs of eclectic food, philosophy and stimulating conversation all in one
place? Yep. When you follow Trent. His down-to-earth personality and warmth make you feel right at home.

@queensbabies – Any Mom who consistently creates earns my admiration and respect! Her lovely gallery overflows with unique handmade creations like colorful cowls, and of course, two adorable kids with infectious smiles.

@thefreegurlclub – Okay, so full disclosure, Shan, the founder of The Free Gurl club is one of my besties but it’s not why she made the list.

Her awesome new page is an encouraging space for women with daily empowering affirmations. And The Free Gurl Club is also on YouTube, with weekly shows to keep the motivation going!

@bettysblankets – Artful blankets, big doses of love (touching photos of grandkids and family, plus  fuzzy pet kiddos) and inspirational posts make following Betty a no brainer.

@highhealedhearts – Domestic violence is a serious issue and High Healed Hearts, Inc. reminds us daily that we all have the power to stop it. I always feel uplifted reading and listening to survivors stories of overcoming abuse. It’s a magnificent tribute to loving and honoring life!
